Term 1 Newsletter Week 1 2025

In 2024 we piloted having our Year 5 and 6 students meet together before the morning bell. This proved very successful at bringing everyone together for a positive morning start. It was so successful that Year 3 and 4 joined in! This year our teachers in Year 1 and 2 are changing their morning routine. Please look for an email from our teachers explaining what will happen and how it will work. Thank you for your support!

Reading is a fundamental skill as part of the bedrock to build literacy for life skills. 2025 we will be expanding our reading focus to include resources and tools for parents to engage with at home. This will be a whole school focus and we invite you to join us. We will be releasing resources on our school webpage to support all of us together. Deception Bay State School is diverse in its many cultures represented through and by our families. This year we are deepening our knowledge and understanding of culture. Understanding "Acknowledgement of Country" is critical for us all to respect traditional owners of our lands. Our class teachers will be working with their students and families to understand the purpose and significance of the Acknowledgement of Country. Each class will be exploring with what this will look like in their classes. This is a great opportunity for us to learn together and we are excited to see our cultural skills and capacity deepen on this journey.
