As a school, we are committed to creating consistent routines and expectations across all year levels. Consistent routines help students know what to expect throughout the day and reduce cognitive load—the amount of mental effort and information that a student's working memory is managing at any given time. By reducing this load, students can focus more effectively on their learning.
At present, we are focusing on two key areas: transitioning around the school as a class and demonstrating appropriate behaviour during parades. Students have been explicitly taught these routines in both classroom and parade settings and are becoming increasingly familiar with the expectations.
We encourage families to discuss these routines with their children and reinforce the importance of following them. Consistent routines help create a safe, calm, and orderly learning environment where all students can learn successfully and feel secure.
